The MV6 microphone connects via USB-C, offering simple plug-and-play operation on PC and Mac computers as well as iOS and Android devices. Shure MOTIV apps allow you to adjust audio, personalize the equalizer, manage monitoring and save presets, so you can use your settings across different devices.

Mute and zero-latency monitoring

MV6 Gen 2 automatically adjusts your voice level, reduces ambient noise and eliminates unwanted plosive sounds with Digital Popper Stopper™ technology. A touch button lets you quickly mute the microphone, while the 3.5 mm headphone output provides zero-latency monitoring. With the MOTIV Mix app, you can also adjust the balance between microphone and computer audio.

Do I need an audio interface or mixer to connect the MV6 to my computer, or is a USB plug-and-play connection enough?

No additional equipment is needed. Simply connect the MV6 to your PC or Mac using the included USB-C cable and you are ready to go. The MV6 features a built-in audio processing module and USB interface, so there is no need for an external mixer, audio interface or additional drivers. Just connect the microphone, select MV6 as your audio device, and start gaming, streaming, chatting or recording.

Do I need a microphone arm, shock mount or pop filter to use the MV6?

Not at all. The MV6 comes with a color-matched desktop stand, so you can use it straight out of the box. It also features Digital Popper Stopper™—one of the digital audio processing functions in the MOTIV device—which helps reduce plosive sounds such as “P” and “B” without the need for a separate pop filter. However, if you need greater flexibility in positioning the device or want to free up desk space, you can always mount a compatible boom arm later.

Can I use the MV6 with an iPhone/iPad or Android device, and what adapters do I need?

Yes. The MV6 works with both iOS and Android devices, and can be configured using the Shure MOTIV app. If your device has a USB-C port, you can usually connect it directly using a suitable USB-C cable (a 2 m USB-C to USB-C cable is included). Devices with other connector types may require an appropriate adapter. Once connected, you can adjust settings, save profiles and manage audio processing with the MOTIV app.

Can I connect two MV6 microphones to one computer to record a podcast or host a live stream with two people?

Yes. If you are recording or streaming live with more than one microphone, the simplest solution is to use the Shure MOTIV Mix™ Desktop App, which lets you mix and control up to five audio channels in a single workflow. This makes it easy to manage multiple microphones, game audio, chat audio and other sources from one place.
Many live streaming and recording platforms also support multiple USB microphones directly, but using MOTIV Mix can simplify setup and audio management when working with more than one microphone. Whether you are hosting a podcast with two people, streaming live with a friend or creating content for multiple participants, using several MV6 microphones can be a great way to capture clear, consistent audio without the need for an external mixer or audio interface.

Will the MV6 work with PS5/PS4, Xbox, ROG Ally, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2?

The MV6 is designed for plug-and-play USB-C audio support on PC, Mac, iOS and Android devices, but many gamers also use USB microphones with compatible consoles and handheld gaming devices. Compatibility may vary depending on the platform, operating system, game and how voice chat is implemented.
For example, with Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, voice chat support may vary by game. If a game or service supports USB audio input, the MV6 can function as a voice chat microphone. Some titles may instead use the Nintendo voice chat app or their own communication systems.
Because console and game support may change over time, we recommend checking the latest compatibility information for your specific platform and game before making a purchase.

Is the MV6 suitable for podcast recording, or is it better to choose XLR?

For many podcast creators, the MV6 is more than sufficient. Thanks to its dynamic microphone design, voice isolation technology and built-in audio processing features, it delivers clear, professional-sounding vocals without requiring additional equipment. If you want a simple plug-and-play solution, the MV6 is an ideal choice. XLR setups offer greater flexibility for advanced studio configurations, but they also require an audio interface or mixer and typically involve a more complex setup.

Can I use AI-powered noise reduction with the MV6 USB gaming microphone?

Yes. The MV6 works with many software-based AI noise reduction tools available in streaming, conferencing and recording applications. It also includes its own adjustable real-time noise reduction module that removes unwanted ambient sounds directly in the microphone. Depending on your workflow, you can use the built-in processing features, external software or a combination of both.
