SMARTHOME & SENSORS
List of safety warnings for SMARTHOME APPLIANCES & SENSORS based on the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (GPSR):
Intended Use and General Guidelines
Intended Use: Smarthome appliances and sensors must be used strictly for their intended purpose as outlined by the manufacturer.
Environment: Always check the device's IP rating. Do not use indoor-only devices outside or in highly humid environments (like bathrooms) unless explicitly approved by the manufacturer.
Electrical Safety and Installation
Power Supply: Use only the original power adapters and cables provided in the set or those that strictly comply with the manufacturer's specifications.
Installation: Always disconnect the power supply before installing, moving, or servicing hardwired smart devices. Ensure cables are routed safely to prevent tripping hazards, strangulation, or accidental pulling.
Damage: Never operate a device with a damaged cord, plug, or housing. If a non-waterproof device is exposed to liquids, immediately disconnect it from the power source.
Heat Management and Ventilation
Overheating Risk: Smart hubs, appliances, and plugged-in sensors can generate heat during operation. Do not cover them with fabrics, bedding, or insulating materials. Ensure proper air circulation around the devices to prevent overheating, fire hazards, and reduced lifespan.
Health Safety and Medical Implants
Interference: Smart devices communicate via wireless modules (Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Bluetooth) and may contain magnets. Persons with pacemakers or other active medical implants should consult a physician before installing or using these devices in close proximity.
Health Data Limitations: Unless explicitly certified, smart environmental or health-tracking sensors are not medical devices. Their readings are for informational purposes only and should not replace professional medical diagnostics or treatment.
Child and Pet Safety
Choking and Strangulation Hazards: These products are not toys. Small parts (like compact sensors or button batteries) present a severe choking hazard. Keep all cables, sensors, and packaging materials completely out of reach of children and pets.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Cleaning: Clean the devices only with a dry, soft cloth after ensuring they are disconnected from power. Do not use liquid detergents, sprays, or harsh chemicals.
Repairs: Do not attempt to open the housing or modify the internal components of the devices. Unauthorized repairs risk electric shock, permanent damage, and voiding of the warranty.
Cybersecurity and Network Use
Firmware Updates: To ensure safe and stable operation, regularly install firmware updates provided by the manufacturer via the dedicated mobile app. These updates often contain critical security patches for radio modules.
Disposal (WEEE)
Recycling: The product must not be disposed of with regular household waste. As Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), it contains components that can be hazardous to the environment and must be dropped off at designated electronic recycling collection points.
Adhering to the above rules reduces the risk of injury, equipment failure, and material loss. Ignoring them may lead to serious health, technical, and property-related issues.
