Desktop computers
List of safety warnings for DESKTOP COMPUTERS based on the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR):
1. Use the computer as intended. A desktop computer is intended for operation in dry, indoor rooms. Do not use it outdoors, in places exposed to moisture, rain, dust, high temperatures, or direct sunlight.
2. Ensure proper ventilation. Do not block the casing's ventilation openings. Position the computer so that air can flow freely around the device. Too little space around the casing can lead to overheating of components.
3. Do not use the computer on soft surfaces. Do not place the device on a bed, blanket, rug, or other surfaces that may block ventilation or increase the amount of dust sucked into the inside of the casing.
4. Protect the device from liquids. Do not place drinks, vases, or other liquid containers on or near the computer. Spilling liquid on the device may cause a short circuit, electric shock, fire, or permanent damage to the equipment.
5. Connect the computer only to an appropriate power source. Use only a power cord compliant with the manufacturer's requirements and local regulations. Connect the computer to a working, grounded electrical outlet.
6. Do not use damaged power cords. Do not use the computer if the power cord, plug, or outlet are damaged, melted, loose, or overheat excessively. In such a case, disconnect the device from power and contact service.
7. Do not overload power strips and extension cords. Do not connect too many devices to a single power strip or extension cord. Overloading the installation may lead to overheating, a short circuit, or fire.
8. Disconnect the computer from power during a thunderstorm or prolonged break in use. To reduce the risk of damage from power surges, it is recommended to disconnect the computer from the electrical grid during a thunderstorm or prolonged absence.
9. Do not open the casing unless you have proper qualifications. Inside the computer, there are electronic components sensitive to damage and components that may pose a risk of electric shock. Opening, repairing, or modifying on your own can be dangerous and may result in voiding the warranty.
10. Do not touch components immediately after turning off the device. Some components, such as the heatsink, power supply, drives, or other components, may be hot immediately after computer operation. Before touching internal components, wait until the device cools down.
11. Protect the computer from dust and dirt. Excessive dust can restrict cooling and increase the risk of overheating. Clean external surfaces with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use aggressive chemical agents or spray liquids directly onto the device.
12. Exercise caution when connecting accessories. Do not force cables, USB flash drives, SD cards, or other connectors. Incorrect connection may damage the port, cable, or connected device.
13. Use only compatible accessories and peripheral devices. Connect only accessories compliant with the computer's specification, such as a monitor, keyboard, mouse, external drives, headphones, microphones, or USB devices. Incompatible accessories may cause unstable operation or damage to equipment.
14. Do not move the computer during operation. Moving a powered-on device can lead to damage to components, ports, or connected cables. Before moving, turn off the computer, disconnect power and all accessories.
15. Place the computer on a stable surface. The device should stand on a flat, stable, and dry surface. Dropping the computer may cause damage to the casing, components, or cables, and pose a risk of injury.
16. Do not insert any objects into the casing openings. Do not place metal objects, tools, or other items into ventilation openings, ports, or slots of the casing. This may cause a short circuit, electric shock, or fire.
17. Keep the device out of reach of small children. The computer, cables, caps, screws, and small parts may pose a hazard to children. Children should not connect, move, or open the device without adult supervision.
18. Pay attention to unusual symptoms of device operation. If the computer emits a burning smell, overheats excessively, emits unusual noises, smoke, sparks, or stops functioning properly, turn it off immediately, disconnect it from power, and contact service.
19. Do not block access to the power cord. Position the computer so that, if necessary, it can be quickly disconnected from power. Do not run the power cord in places where it can be pinched, bent, or damaged.
20. Exercise caution when working with data and software. Update the operating system and security software. Download files and applications only from trusted sources. Unauthorized software may affect data security and proper operation of the device.
21. Do not dispose of the computer with municipal waste. Used computer, cables, and electronic accessories should be handed over to an appropriate e-waste collection point in accordance with local regulations.
22. Comply with the manufacturer's instructions. Before use, read the user manual, technical documentation, and additional manufacturer warnings. Detailed information regarding assembly, connection, cleaning, maintenance, and servicing may vary depending on the model.
Following the above rules reduces the risk of injury, equipment breakdown, and property damage. Ignoring them may lead to serious health and technical problems.Detailed information and additional warnings can be found in the user manual included with the product or in PDF format on the manufacturer/supplier website.
